Credit Crunch good for open source

We announced LiMo had gained members the other day. The news stations around the world cannot seem to get enough of the credit crunch over the last few months but there are positives. The Open Source movement which includes Android is gaining many new supporters. Companies big and small are looking to reduce costs and are finding that Open Source is viable. Great news for Android lovers.

Symbian has also grown much stronger in recent months. There promises to be some stiff competition between the three.

LiMo welcomes lots of new members

With Android growing fast and the ever growing economic pressures it is somewhat unsurprising to see that many of the worlds mobile telecom companies have decided free open source software is the way to go. The need to cut costs and boost margins is a major factor affecting business decisions at any time, but now it is more relevant than ever. On that note, LiMo, the Open Handset Partnership’s biggest rival has welcomed some new members today re-inforces its status. It does not have the big Google money backing that Android does though.
